Cohort 4 - 2015
NLAPH

Overview

The PRHLT members are currently working on maternal-child health (MCH) issues from a broader policy perspective at an island-wide level, focusing both on reducing premature birth and improving cognitive development outcomes. Specifically, team members are working to reduce the island’s alarming 15.1% premature birthrate by training clinicians on the causes of premature births and working with medical directors at private and public hospitals to implement “hard-stop policies” on early C-sections. Additionally, team members are working to implement policies and a national plan to improve service integration across agencies that target the SDOH leading to low MCH and childhood developmental outcomes.
