Wellness Now Coalition – Equity Leadership Committee

Oklahoma City, OK

Cohort 10 - 2021
NLAPH

Overview

The team aims to foster positive health outcomes, safety, independence and well-being of children and families in Oklahoma County.

They will develop clear and inclusive pathways for all partner organizations in the Coalition to become trauma-informed, prevention-focused, and hope-centered. As organizations, community coalitions, and statewide agencies use an equity-lens to provide trauma-informed root solutions, there must be a process in place to align these resources while engaging marginalized voices.

Community Health Workers can “meet the families where they are”, build authentic relationships, and create safe and healing spaces to co-create solutions to community barriers. For families experiencing interconnected adversities, CHWs can co-facilitate peer support groups to unravel these barriers and address the social determinants of health.
