Overview

The team proposes a two-pronged project that includes:

  • A social marketing campaign to address the rural, metro/urban divide with resilience in order to improve opportunities and increase the rural workforce

  • Micro-bursts of training in communities and across sectors to increase the awareness of, acceptance of, and availability of community health workers in Kansas

Overview

The team aims to promote better health among the Kickapoo tribe by increasing physical activity, healthy eating, and traffic safety. Some of their initial efforts include the procurement of food for the local school via a community garden, physical activity classes, the creation of bike lanes to improve highway safety, and “no smoking” policies.

Overview

This team’s AHLP will advance the work of the Healthy Lifestyles Imitative (HLI), a movement in which multi-sectoral partners become oriented, create their own customized work plan—called MAPPS for change—and implement it to infuse HLI core strategies within the delivery of their services. These strategies are evidence-based clinical and community approaches to effectively lower the risk for obesity and include:

  • “M”- Consistent use of message - 12345 Fit-Tastic!

  • “A”- Consistent assessment of weight status and behaviors

  • “P”-Customized healthy weight plan for all

  • “P”-Policies and environments that enable healthy eating and active living

  • “S”- Statistics on key measures that are collected and analyzed to track progress and support process improvement
