HHS Region 5
Indiana
Lead Free Indy
Indianapolis, IN
Cohort 12 - 2023
LFC
Overview
Our project will respond to the issue that while lead remediation measures work for the short term to protect families, they cannot be relied on to create a lead-free city. Our team hopes to identify and encourage practices and laws that can be enacted by property owners and rental properties to ensure homes and communities are lead-free. The second part of our strategy will promote an aggressive public education campaign. Finally, we hope to create tenant protections so that families are not afraid to learn of a child's lead exposure status or demand healthy housing without fear of retaliation.
