Pledge for Life Partnership

Kankakee County, IL

Cohort 8 - 2019
NLAPH

Overview

The team’s goal is to develop a trauma-informed county focused on data, dispersion, and policy. The goal is to create a data collection system around the effects of trauma to evaluate the efficacy of trauma prevention and healing efforts. The project will connect physicians with nursing students who can help the team apply Dr. Nadine Burke Harris' model for administering the ACEs and Resilience Surveys that avoids retraumatization. The “Train the trainer” approach will be used as well as a focus on minority populations.

Condom Availability Advocacy - Chicago Public Schools

Chicago, IL

Cohort 7 - 2018
NLAPH

Overview

This project will advocate for and facilitate increased condom availability in a select group of CPS high schools over one year. The team anticipates their success will drive more thorough sexual health policy adoption across the District. The project will identify and convene stakeholders, strengthen and expand messaging—with a focus on amplifying student voices in policy and implementation discourses. The team will also think creatively about funders and other philanthropic partners to build sustainability of condom access initiatives in CPS high schools.
