Overview
The project seeks to address childhood obesity, which has been identified as a significant public health problem, by identifying and educating about evidence-based policy change options at the local level. The team, along with community partners, will examine and consider polices related to childhood obesity, such as
Land use policies (e.g., protect and promote community gardens and farmers’ markets, complete streets)
Economic development policies (e.g., enhance access to healthy food options and physical activity)
Lawful restriction by school districts on food and beverage advertising on campus
