Ada, Boise, Elmore, and Valley Counties, ID

Cohort 1 - 2012
NLAPH

Overview

The project seeks to address childhood obesity, which has been identified as a significant public health problem, by identifying and educating about evidence-based policy change options at the local level. The team, along with community partners, will examine and consider polices related to childhood obesity, such as

  • Land use policies (e.g., protect and promote community gardens and farmers’ markets, complete streets)

  • Economic development policies (e.g., enhance access to healthy food options and physical activity)

  • Lawful restriction by school districts on food and beverage advertising on campus
