Arizona School Immunization Coalition

Overview

Coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic, childhood immunization rates in Arizona are decreasing, and school vaccine exemption rates increasing. Many school nurses are brand new to the field, often without support.

Our project will build on current partnerships with school nurses to create a mentorship program by matching up experienced school nurses with brand new nurses, providing support and guidance around processes and reporting requirements.

We would also like to identify 5-10 school nurses to be vaccine ambassadors who are willing to educate nurses, communities, and state legislators. Using these ambassadors, we will create a plan for next steps in sustainability for the mentorship program.
