Adaptive Leadership

The Practice of Adaptive Leadership: Tools and Tactics for Changing Your Organization and the World, by Ronald A. Heifetz and Marty Linsky, is a handbook for handling the demands of leadership in the midst of complexity. Every NLAPH team is doing an Applied Health Leadership Project (AHLP) in a context of change and uncertainty; this could be political, social, and/or economic. The population health improvements and multi-sector endeavors we seek necessitate change, and the health equity we seek requires it. Learning how to lead when we don't know all the answers requires a new type of leadership that has a vision, which uses tools and tactics to bring to each new issue. This handbook provides that framework to help us move forward.
